WHAT DO WE DO DIFFERENTLY?

We prioritize using pieces, materials and finishes sourced from sustainable and socially conscious companies and we are highly selective with the brands we choose to work with. We partner with companies that align with our values so we can make our clients’ design dreams a reality in the most earth-friendly way possible.

Our goal for every project is to not only provide the design service, but also make an effort to educate our clientele about the importance of sustainability. During the consultation period and design time, we make sure to be as thorough as possible to explain our process and concepts.

We are transparent as possible with our clients and audience about our company practices and our affiliates. In this way we can make a positive impact and our hope is to inspire our audience to live more sustainably too.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF SOMETHING IS SUSTAINABLE?

We start by researching what the products are made of and how it’s made. We look items such as energy efficient LED lights by Plumen, organic cotton sheets by Coyuchi and pieces that are made out of recycled or recyclable materials since they have a low impact on the environment.

This information is usually available and defined in the product description or catalog. Sometimes it isn’t always clear, so we make an effort to reach out to brand representatives to clarify any and all concerns we may have. If a representative doesn’t know who, where or how a product is made, then that is a red flag for us.

WHY DOES GREEN DESIGN MATTER?

We believe that sustainability is important because increases the quality of our designs. By using environmentally and socially conscious pieces and materials, we reduce our impact and carbon footprint.

We look for alternatives to plastic that moves us towards a circular economy and a greener tomorrow, eliminating single-use waste which harms us and our planet.

WHAT'S OUR DESIGN PROCESS LIKE?

We created and follow our 5 rules of design: repurpose, reduce, reuse, redo, and recycle. We think of creative and innovative ways to implement these principles into our design process and we encourage our clients/audience to apply these rules to their daily lives as well.

First, we have the client send us dimensions and photos so we can scope out the space we’re working with. After defining the space, we can define a client’s needs, wants, and budget. With this in mind, we can materialize a client's vision by playing around with the layout and sketching a floor plan.

We make a point to take advantage of the pieces and materials we already have to work with. This way we avoid buying everything new and creating more waste that ends up in landfills and oceans.
